According to reports from The Caspian Post and Anadolu Agency, Ena Venture Capital is positioning itself as a major investor in early-stage AI startups within the country, with a clear goal: to make Türkiye’s sovereign AI a reality.
Speaking at the Take Off Istanbul 2025 startup event, Uner highlighted the fund's focus on startups in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, particularly those in the pre-seed and seed stages. 'We are participating in Take Off Istanbul with four standout firms,' Uner noted. These include Orbina, specializing in agentic AI; Enlighty, which focuses on customer and market insights; MagicPay, developing innovative payment processing systems; and CloudFlex, known for its hybrid cloud computing infrastructure.
Orbina, in particular, has been a source of pride for the fund. 'They’ve undertaken significant projects, especially in finance for insurers and banks, as well as in the public sector,' Uner explained. What sets Orbina apart is its ability to enhance efficiency for institutions by automating tasks. But here’s the game-changer: Orbina has developed a Turkish large language model (LLM), enabling AI agents that communicate seamlessly in Turkish, providing unparalleled assistance in the local language. Another key player in this strategy is Nuvena, an Ena Venture Capital investment focused on building Türkiye’s sovereign AI infrastructure. 'We noticed a recurring challenge among our AI startups: they often had to look outside Türkiye to meet their infrastructure needs,' Uner explained. 'So, we thought, why not create our own infrastructure here? This way, our startups can thrive without relying on foreign solutions.' This approach not only addresses a critical gap but also positions Türkiye as a self-reliant player in the global AI arena.
The goal for Nuvena is twofold: to create robust data center capacity within Türkiye and to build an AI layer on top of it. 'With our sovereign AI layer, we want Turkish firms and startups to meet their capacity and hardware needs right here, without turning to foreign providers,' Uner added.
